The Georgia Promise Scholarship Program, created through Senate Bill 233 and signed into law in 2024, will take effect beginning with the 2025–2026 school year.
This program offers eligible families up to $6,500 in state-funded assistance to be used toward:
- Private school tuition and fees
- Tutoring services
- Transportation
- Other approved educational expenses
Who Is Eligible?
To qualify for the Georgia Promise Scholarship:
- Students must reside in the attendance zone of a low-performing public school, as designated by the state.
- Students must have attended a Georgia public school for the full 2024–2025 school year.
- Kindergarten students are eligible regardless of the type of program attended in 2024–2025.
- Priority is given to families earning under 400% of the federal poverty level based on household size.

What the Promise Scholarship Covers
The scholarship may be applied to a range of educational expenses; however: All fees and expenses are subject to approval by the Georgia Promise program.
Fees Not Covered by Georgia Promise:
Families are responsible for any costs not approved under the scholarship, including but not limited to:
- Remaining tuition balance beyond the $6,500 scholarship
- $200 Application Fee
- $100 Technology Fee (Grades 6–12)
- School uniforms
- Lunch program
- Before- and after-school care
- Field trips / mission trips
- Annual yearbook
- Athletic fees
